Nazwa święta wywodzi się z perskiego słowa pur–los, gdyż przez losowanie wezyr Achaszwerosza – Haman (niech przeklęte imię jego będzie!) wyłonił datę wymordowania perskich Żydów. Estera wraz z Mordechajem udaremnili jego plan.

Tradycyjnie obchody Purim łączą się z czytaniem Megili, piciem wina, Purimpszpil, Hamantasze, przebraniami, prezentami i cedaką. Nie inaczej będzie w Beit Kraków! W tym roku odwiedzi nas Raw Purim – uczeń mianowany mędrcem, jeżeli macie jakieś „mądrości” to Raw chętnie je przejmie i wykorzysta w znany tylko sobie sposób. Przypominamy, że purimowe stroje są bardzo mile widziane – najbardziej oryginalny nagrodzony zostanie salwami szczerego purimowego śmiechu.

Come celebrate Purim with Beit Kraków! The name of Purim is derived from the Persian word pur (lots) cast by the vizier of Ahasuerus, Haman (may his name forever be cursed!) to pick the date of the destruction of the Jews of Persia. Queen Esther and her uncle Mordechai thwarded his plans.

Traditionally, the celebration of Purim is combined with reading the Megila, drinking wine, a purimshpil, eating hamentashen, masquerade, gifts and tzedakah. It will be not different in Beit Kraków! This year, we will be hosting a special visitor, Reb Purim – a student nominated to be a thinker. If you have some „wisdom” then Reb Purim will take them with him and put them to good use. We kindly remind you to also prepare your special Purim costume! The most original one will be rewarded with a vast and sincere Purim laugh.
